Mindfulness

Proprioception is key: This is the ability to feel and focus on the muscles you are using. In order to do this, you must develop an understanding of which muscles should be working for each particular exercise as you’re doing them.

Every movement or exercise recruits specific muscle groups; however, our bodies are masters of compensation. If we do not take the time to learn which muscles should be activated OR are not mindful enough to do the exercises in correct form and focusing of feeling the correct muscle groups, we can develop improperly which can lead to pain and hinder results in the long run.

We really focus and desire for all our clients to have an understanding of what each exercise should look and FEEL like. For example, if we have programmed you to perform a hip thrust, you should feel this directly in your glutes, NOT your lower back, quads, or anywhere else really. So by understanding where you are supposed to feel it, and concentrating on using/flexing those muscles through the motion, you will KNOW you are performing the exercise correctly, FEEL those muscles progressively strengthening, and SEE the results!
